Durban Language Centre is a teacher training centre for adult learners of English, and offers top-quality General English classes from Beginner to Advanced level.

We offer specialised teacher training courses, with introductory courses for candidates with no teaching experience to advanced in-service training for qualified teachers who want to improve and diversify their skills.

¬†About Our School’s EnglishTeacher Training & English teaching Accreditation

 Durban Language Centre is Services SETA accredited and registered with the South African Department of Higher Education. (DHET)

Our Cambridge CELTA courses are taught and assessed by DELTA qualified teacher trainers and Cambridge Assessors, guaranteeing course quality is maintained,while classes are monitored regularly to map learner progress, and externally assesessed by Cambridge Language Assessments.

About Our Teachers

Our teachers are all highly qualified. They have a TEFL or Teaching English as a Foreign Language teacher training qualification from one of the major international teacher training centres, usually Cambridge University CELTA.

As a teacher training centre we are be able to employ teachers who have excellent teaching qualifications and experience. 

We pride ourselves in making language learning fun, using effective teaching techniques and maintaining high standards of professionalism.

Itt is important for our teachers, and those undergoing teacher training to not simply guide students through a text book, but rather to create materials which will be relevant to students and the conversational, or written situations they need to master.

For that reason, we try to encourage reading and writing practice be saved for homework, focusing more on communication, and language usage in class, a method which has been proven by peer review. This communicative method is much more successful with students as they progress.
